Oak Harbour is an excellent base for exploring local parks such as Fort Eby and Deception Pass, to name two of the many spectacular places nearby. Also, the ferry to Port Townsend is a few miles away and one can take a day trip, leaving the car behind in Coupeville, and wander Port Townsend’s architecturally interesting downtown and waterfront without having to wait in line with a car. Foot passengers just walk on! No reservations required. This area is definitely worth a few days of exploring. The town itself has a wonderful park on the waterfront, and for those with small kiddos, the park sports a world class playground and sprinkler park. Because it’s the “big town” in the area, it has lots of amenities as well as the usual cutesy tourist places. There are choices of places to eat and just about any kind of service you need available.

There are no stunning mountains or grand canyons but Whidbey Island is a very nice and friendly place. I look forward to my visits and there are nice parks, beaches for every sun direction, impressive long views and the same bad food as every American town.

It’s changed since I lived there many years ago.
It’s changed since I lived there many years ago. It’s lost it’s small town appeal. Chain stores have run all the mom and pop businesses out. It’s just another plaza/mall town set in a used -to-be-nice location

So many things to do.
So many things to do. Drive inn movie theater with go carts and arcade, plus they have a beer garden for adults! Oh, I forgot to say you can bring your dog as well. There are multiple state parks, which are a great way to spend a day. Plenty of restaurants and grocery stores available. There is a good and responsive Doordash community. We really enjoyed the PNW Naval Air Museum. You can try a modern flight simulator and crawl into a ww2 gunner turret. The highlight for me was seeing the PBY Catalina fully restored. Such an amazing flying boat. 😍 Overall a fantastic way to spend a vacation.

It was perfect for a place to stay and visit the area.
It was perfect for a place to stay and visit the area. Only down side is its in the middle of the city so no nature, but there is nothing stopping you from visiting all the trails and hikes in the area since they are so close.

I love spending time on Whidbey Island and Oak Harbor is a friendly town with lots of amenities. I chose to stay there for work because it was in between two places I had to be on two days. I didn't get to visit too many places, but our hotel (Coachman Inn) was great.
This place is just the most convenient start and stop point. (1) It's a drop off and pick up point for the Sea Tac shuttle, (2) My room opened directly onto the parked car, both convenient and great for sorting, (not something I like in more urban environments but it works in Oak Harbor), there are upstairs options too (3) The staff are really helpful. (4) The kitchen aspects of the room handy, a good fridge and a microwave to add to the Keurig coffee.
The staff at the facility had to book and rebook my room three separate times. One time they sent me a text then the other two times I had to come down to the front desk and stand there and rebook. They charged my credit card for separate times for two nights. That exceeded my travel budget and I wasn't able to get food for one day. The staff was horrible at the hotel
it was centrally located to everything in Oak Harbor, Walgreens across the street as was the specialty grocery Haggens . Morning continental breakfast was good with choice of bagels, English muffin, toast or specialty muffins plus OJ and coffee and water for tea available all day. The room was clean and very comfortable and cozy atmosphere. Staff were lovely.
The room we had was comfortable, clean, and fairly quiet. On the back side of the hotel so no street noise. The breakfast was good but limited because of Covid restrictions. You can't beat the location; it's right downtown Oak Harbor, close to shopping, food, and the beach.
Excellent staff! This place reminds me of something from childhood road trips where we beg our dad to stay! Unfortunately charming inns such as this one are being replaced by metal box type hotel chains. This place had everything we needed. Highly recommend!
We've been staying at this hotel at least 6-7 times in the last 10 years, as we liked location, rooms, service, breakfast. This time we were disappointed with our experience and will be looking for a different hotel on our next trip to Oak Harbor.
Jessica greeted us so warmly and made sure our needs were met.

Our experience here at Coachman Oak Harbor exceeded our expectations.
Thank you for your hospitality.
The hotel was just a short drive to downtown Oak Harbor and there was ample free parking on the property. There was lots of choice at the complimentary breakfast and staff were helpful. Beds were comfortable.
Beautiful horse property close to Oak Harbor. Gregg, the manager was super nice and made us good breakfasts. The room was large and lovely and the Jacuzzi was a bonus. We enjoyed a lovely peaceful retreat.
Lady behind the counter was not prepared, she was a bit rude and unconcerning that there was no room fir my reservation! I’ll stay at another location next bisit to Oak Harbor
The bed, room and hotel reception was a cut above the rest. We enjoyed the free coffee & breakfast options. No street noise and never heard our neighbours.
